Effie who was as white as a sheet breathed a sigh of relief as she heard the beep of the heart monitor. She also realized the doctor may get on her case for being so careless earlier.

Dr.Tarter was deep in his own thoughts, he knew his patients condition was still grave ..but was relieved that time, that he wouldn't have bad news to present to those waiting outside who loved him.He was jerked out of his thoughts at the sound of a womans shrill angry voice in the waiting room!

"How dare you not return my husband's phone calls Christopher Lorenzo... now, you give me a good reason as to why you didn't!" Frannie said furiously. (303)

Mike looked down a dark hallway, at the bright light at the end of it.
He saw a small figure coming up to him. "Who are you?" he asked her,
the short grandmotherly figure.

"I'm your Grandma Rose" she repllied

"Who?" he said, staring at the elderly lady.

"Dagnabit, aren't you my Christopher?" she asked, squinting at him

"No, I'm Detective Michael Price," he said.

"All righty then, back you go!"

That was the last thing Michael heard before he felt a blazing hot
sensation at his chest.

"Clear!" Dr. Tarter shouted, as Mike's body thumped off the operating
table; his heart starting again. (302)

Mike's heart suddenly flat-lined Dr Tarter gazed at the screen then yelled for Effie to give the paddle's as he started CPR. (301)

Effie picks up the clamp from the floor and quickly stops the flow of blood from Mike's cranium. Because of the sudden loss of blood, Mike's heart rate carreens wildly. "Come on, stay with us" Dr. Tarter tells the unconcious Mike, as he works to stop the internal damage. (299)

Melissa the nurse nearly faints at the sight of all the blood spurting up she loses her balance as the clamp falls to the floor.
"Oh Doctor Tarter what shall we do?" Effie the tech exclaims.
Rob the assistant helps Melissa to a chair. Dr Tarter grabs a clamp himself.

"Well stand there why don't ya and not lift a finger to help!" Dr Tarter barks at Effie.

The surgery continues-

Doctor Tarter peeled back the outer layer of Mike's skin, exposing his skull. "Thank you nurse" he says, taking the long metal instrument and cracking open Mike's skull, looking at the brain. "Oh no," the doctor says. "Nurse, hurry with the clamps". Blood spurts up at the doctor's
face. (296)

Rita begin to think about the last couple of days ..even though she had been with Chris all that time her conscience was nagging her knowing they had left the hospital before knowing how badly Mike had been hurt. Not to mention it was bugging her of the way they had treated poor Cap.

Softly she spoke to herself ..."I can't keep this up" glancing at the bathroom door as Chris's voice singing came through the door .."All I ever think about is you"...he belted out, "How it feels to hold you in my arms. Chris smiles,"Now let's get going before I strip search you right here.." His hands go up under her dress and rub on her thighs.. "Where is it that you wanted to go? Wait a second turn around and bend over.
I want to make sure if you were to bend over no one could see anything that isn't their's to see. Plus I will get to see minimals as well." (290)
